Tinkler is candid about what makes Another Investment tick. The horse is, in his own words, a bit moody — it only comes right at certain times, and it needs everything to fall into place on the day. That is not an easy animal to train or to ride. What it wants is fast, dry ground, a strong pace over six furlongs, and ideally a race where the field does not ease off halfway through. When it gets that combination, the engine that Tinkler talks about actually fires. On dry ground alone it wins roughly 1 in every 4 races — 2 from 9 — which is a dramatically better record than its overall figures suggest.
The place where Another Investment has made most of its mark is York, where it has won twice from 14 races. That sounds modest until you consider that York is one of the finest tracks in Britain, a wide, galloping circuit that suits horses with real ability. Winning there twice is not nothing. Its first win came at York back in September 2021, and after a long gap it won again at Doncaster in June 2025. That Doncaster win was exactly the kind of race Tinkler had described — the field went hard early and then stopped, and Another Investment, wanting further than six furlongs all along, kept finding more when others were emptying.
Since that Doncaster win, the last six races have produced finishing positions of 13, 7, 15, 10, 11, and 10 — nothing close to a threat. Jockey Alex Jary, who has ridden it in 13 of its races together for a single win between them, knows better than most how frustrating this horse can be. Still, it raced just yesterday and the Tinkler yard — which has sent out 37 winners this season — clearly believes there is more to come, with the all-weather on the horizon. Another Investment remains the kind of horse you keep half an eye on, waiting for the day when the pace, the ground, and the mood all arrive together.
