Another Folly

Look at the last six races and the picture sharpens considerably: fourth, fourth, fourth, second, first, second. That is a horse running out of its skin, consistently knocking on the door and occasionally kicking it clean off its hinges. The win came at Stratford-on-Avon on 30 October 2025 — the first and only victory of Another Folly's career — and it clearly was not a fluke. The runs either side of it were placings, not falls from grace, which suggests a horse that has found a level it is genuinely comfortable at and is making the most of it.

The curious wrinkle is the jockey partnership. David Noonan has ridden Another Folly eight times and has yet to win on it — 0 from 8. That is not necessarily anyone's fault; horses and jockeys are not always a natural match, and plenty of perfectly good partnerships simply do not click on paper. But it is worth noting that the one win did not come through that combination, which gives the whole arrangement an interesting tension.

Trainer Jane Williams, working out of George Nympton in Devon, has had a productive season — 21 winners from the yard so far, which speaks to a team that knows how to get a horse ready to perform. Another Folly has been competing mainly at Class 4 level, one of the mid-tier grades in British racing, and has yet to win at that level from nine attempts. That the sole career win came somewhere in the mix is a reminder that horses do not always follow the logic you would write for them.

At seven years old and racing as recently as yesterday, Another Folly is very much an active story. Whether it can add to that solitary win — particularly after such a consistent run of placed finishes — is the question worth watching.
