Another Challenge

The horse is currently active and trained by Oliver McKiernan at Rathcoole, just outside Dublin. McKiernan's yard has sent out six winners this season, a steady return that puts Another Challenge in a working environment with decent form. The horse has been ridden most often by Phillip Enright, though that partnership has yet to yield a win — eight rides together without success. Enright was not in the saddle for the Roscommon victory, which raises an interesting question about whether a different jockey might unlock something in the horse's running style.

For a six-year-old still chasing his second win, this recent success at Roscommon is exactly the kind of moment that matters. It proves he can do it, even if he has to work hard for it. Whether he can build on it and string together more winners remains to be seen, but at least he is no longer a horse searching for his first taste of the winner's enclosure.
