Another Blunder

Trained by Michael Barry, whose yard has sent out just one winner this season, Another Blunder is not coming from a yard in red-hot form. That single winner is not nothing — every trainer is trying — but it does put the horse's own struggles in context. This is not a case of a talented horse being mishandled by a powerhouse operation; it is a modestly resourced yard doing its best with a horse that, so far, has not given them much to work with.

What is worth watching is the simple fact that Another Blunder raced just one day ago and is currently active. Whatever conclusions the yard — sorry, whatever conclusions the team has drawn from those three runs, they have not given up. That counts for something. Some horses take time to find their feet, and a yard willing to keep running a horse is a yard that still believes there is something there. Whether Another Blunder eventually justifies that faith is the only open question its record leaves us with.
