Annie's Belle

Her recent form figures of 4-–-5-9-7-– show a mixed picture. The dashes indicate races where she didn't finish in the first nine, and the numbered positions suggest she has been in and around the mid-field without threatening the leaders. A fourth and a fifth are respectable enough, but the ninth hints at days when things simply didn't click. She raced just yesterday, which means she is very much an active runner with more chapters still to write.

Annie's Belle is trained by Ms Claire O'Connell, who operates out of Ashbourne in Co Meath. It is a yard that has sent out four winners already this season, so the knowhow to get a horse to the line first is clearly there. Whether Annie's Belle can become winner number five remains the question — but with a trainer who is getting results, she is at least in capable hands.
