Ancestor

The recent runs tell a good story. In the last three outings, Ancestor has won twice, placed once, and had just one poor result — a fourth-place finish. That's the kind of consistency that separates a flash in the pan from a horse with genuine potential. The first career win came at Great Yarmouth back in early July, and the win at Haydock this week shows the horse is building on that, not regressing.

Ancestor is trained by William Haggas, one of the most respected yards in Newmarket. Haggas has sent out 170 winners already this season, which means the stable is firing on all cylinders — this is a serious operation. A 3-year-old with two wins in just three races, trained by a top handler and currently in winning form, is exactly the sort of prospect worth watching closely. The horse is active and racing now, which means more opportunities to run are coming soon.
