Ancestor raced just yesterday and finished fourth on its only outing to date. No wins, no placed finishes yet, but the horse is very much active and the chapter is wide open. What we do know is that it runs out of one of the most productive yards in British racing right now. Haggas, based in Newmarket, has sent out 170 winners already this season — a number that reflects a training operation firing on all cylinders. Horses from this stable are expected to improve with experience, and a debut fourth is far from a red flag.
At three years old, Ancestor is at the age where racehorses typically develop fastest. One run in, one lesson learned. Whether that fourth-place finish turns into something more will become clear soon enough.
