That single win came at Hereford in February 2023, now 38 months ago, and it remains the only time Amidnightstar has reached the winner's enclosure. Recent form tells a mixed story: a second-place finish was encouraging, but a seventh and a fifth suggest the horse is capable of better days and worse ones. The most recent run, just ten days ago, came up with a fifth — still competitive enough to suggest Amidnightstar is ticking along in reasonable shape.

What stands out here is that gap since the last win. Thirty-eight months is a long time between victories, and at nine, horses don't tend to suddenly rediscover their very best. But Amidnightstar is still racing and still placing — which at least tells you the horse remains willing and competitive, even if that Hereford winner's photo is gathering dust.
