What works in Always Perfect's favour is the stable behind it. Charlie Fellowes trains out of Newmarket — the heartland of British flat racing, a town where horses are practically a local currency — and his yard has sent out 20 winners already this season. That is a yard in form, which matters more than people might realise. A trainer running hot tends to have horses fit, confident, and placed in the right races, and that kind of momentum can lift a horse that has not yet found the winning feeling. Always Perfect is in good hands, even if it has not yet justified that name on the track.
At three years old, there is plenty of time. Most horses at this age are still working out what racing is about, learning how to settle, how to race against others, how to find another gear when it matters. Finishing third already shows the ability is somewhere in there. The question is whether it can put everything together on the right day.
