His first win came at Listowel in September 2023, and it had been a long time coming. Before that, he had finished second in three races without getting over the line — the kind of bridesmaid run that tests everyone's patience. When he finally broke through, his trainer at the time, Gavin Cromwell, said he simply deserved it. The horse had been keen and hard to settle in previous races, but at Listowel he relaxed into it, and the penny dropped. Cromwell noted he could be hard on himself — a phrase that suggests a horse who burns energy through nerves as much as effort.

His most recent win came at Punchestown in June 2025, which means he has not won in his last six races since. That gap is starting to stretch. The form figures from his last six outings read 3–2–2–6–5, which actually tells a more optimistic story than the absence of a win might suggest — he has been placing regularly, staying competitive, just not quite getting there. The ground makes a real difference to him: on slightly wet conditions he has won 2 of his 6 races, a 33% win rate that is genuinely strong. On faster or more normal ground, that edge disappears.

He is now trained by Sandy Thomson, whose yard in Berwickshire has sent out 18 winners this season — a yard in decent form, in other words. His most regular jockey is Keith Donoghue, who has ridden him seven times for one win together. At Class 3 level — a step up from the everyday races but below the elite events — he has managed no wins from four attempts, which suggests he is most comfortable operating just below that grade. The picture that emerges is of a likeable, durable horse who runs his race every time, finds the places, and saves his best for soft ground and the right occasion.
