Accustomed

Trained by E D Delany out of Laytown in County Meath, Accustomed raced as recently as yesterday, which tells you this is a horse in active work and firmly part of the yard's plans. Delany's operation has sent out five winners already this season, so there is form in the stable — and perhaps the hope is that Accustomed can add to that tally before long.

The recent run of results makes for mixed reading: a second place and another placing are tucked among some more distant finishes, including a twelfth and a sixth. That pattern — flashes of competitiveness followed by quieter efforts — is the kind of thing that keeps a trainer patient but searching for answers. The right race, the right conditions, and a cleaner run through traffic could yet change everything for a horse that has been knocking on the door without quite breaking it down.
