Its first career win came at Bath in June 2024, but it was a January win at Lingfield Park in 2026 that represents the most recent success — about three months ago now.

The partnership with jockey Rowan Scott also stands out. Two wins from five races together is a 40% win rate — winning 2 in every 5 races they've run as a pair — which is a remarkably high figure. That's not luck; that suggests a genuine understanding between horse and rider, the kind of combination a trainer will want to keep together when possible.

That trainer is David Loughnane, based at Stoke Heath in Shropshire. It's a yard in form — 38 winners already this season — and Loughnane has built a reputation for placing his horses well and getting results on the all-weather circuit. Accrual fits that profile neatly.

The current form is the one question mark. Accrual has gone six races without a win, and the recent figures — finishing fifth, off the track, fifth again, absent, then eighth and sixth — suggest it has been finding things a little tough lately. It raced just yesterday, so it's in the thick of an active campaign. Whether it finds its way back to the winner's enclosure soon may depend on whether the track and the conditions line up in its favour again — and if Wolverhampton comes around, the form book says don't write it off.
