The breeding offers a few clues. Sired by Starspangledbanner and out of an Australian mare, there is speed in the family — Starspangledbanner was a top-level sprinter himself, and that influence tends to produce horses who are sharp and quick out of the gate rather than the slow-burning types who need time and distance to find their best. Whether that translates to the track on debut is another matter entirely.
First-time runners are always a leap of faith, and a debut tells you very little about a horse's ceiling. What we do know is that when A P O'Brien bothers to run a two-year-old, the horse has usually shown something at home worth seeing. Watch this space.
