What we do have is breeding, and it tells an encouraging story. Folk Dance is by Lope De Vega, a sire with a strong record of producing horses who improve as they mature and who tend to handle a variety of conditions. The mother's side adds further quality — she is by Golden Horn, the outstanding racehorse who won the Derby and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. That is a serious pedigree, the kind that suggests Folk Dance has every reason to develop into a useful performer over time.
At two years old, this is just the beginning. Debut runs can be unpredictable — some horses take to it immediately, others need the experience before they find their stride. What happens on the day will tell us far more than any amount of paddock study. For now, Folk Dance is simply a well-bred youngster about to find out what racing is all about.
